Time

Teaching Aids
Magic box, real fruits (banana, apple, orange, mango, papaya, pear), fruit picture cards, Power point Presentation, recording, Worksheet 1 (Tick (√) the correct pictures), Worksheet 2 (Match the pictures to the words) and Worksheet 3 (Write the words).
Pre – listening
1)    Teacher brings a ‘magic box’ which is fined with many types of fruits.
2)    Teacher tells pupils that today they will learn about fruits.
3)    Teacher asks the pupils to guess what fruits are in the magic box.
4)    Teacher writes the pupils answer on the whiteboard.
5)    Teacher shows the fruits inside the ‘magic box’.
6)    Teacher reveals the topic of the day ‘Let’s Eat’.
7)    Teacher shows power point presentation featuring pictures of different types of fruits such as:
a)    banana
b)    apple
c)    mango
d)    orange
e)    papaya
f)     pear
*(refer Appendix 1 : handout of slides)
8)    Pupils say aloud the words and spell the words after teacher.

While – listening
1)    Teacher tells pupils that they are going to listen to a recording (refer Appendix 2-4: task script)
2)    Teacher distributes Worksheet 1 to pupils. (refer Appendix 5: Tick (√) the correct pictures)
3)    Teacher plays recording for the first time to familiarize pupils with the words and to identify fruits while listening.
4)    Teacher asks pupils to listen to the instructions and follow the instruction given for Worksheet 1.
5)    Teacher asks pupils to compare their answers with their friends sitting next to them.
6)    Teacher shows the correct answers.
7)    Teacher distributes Worksheet 2 to pupils. (refer Appendix 6: fruits pictures and words)
8)    Teacher plays the recording for the second time to get pupils to identify the fruit words while listening.
a)    Pupils match the pictures to the correct words
9)    Teacher asks pupils to compare their answers with their friends sitting next to them.
10) Teacher shows the correct answers.
11) Teacher plays the recording for the task 3.
a)     Pupils listen to the recording and do the worksheet given
       12) Teacher discusses the answer with the pupils.

Post - listening
1)    Teacher distributes Worksheet 3 (write the words) (refer to Appendix 10) to pupils to be done individually.
